This year we travelled our furthest east ever on two wheels! Final destination Rovinj in Croatia. The route there and back as ever was awesome. First stop was a revisit to Normandy to see the new British Normandy Memorial in Vers-sur-Mer. An emotional and worthwhile short stay. Then on to Paris, which we last visited in 1978! So much to see and very sore feet. Onwards to a picturesque walled town in Eastern France called Langres. Highly recommend this as a stopover if travelling this route. Bavaria next with stops in Bad Säckingen and Füssen, which took us to the incredible Schloss Neuschwanstein Castle. Talk about fairytale! Next was the Grossglockner Pass in Austria, which turned out to be the worst day to take a motorcycle up into the Alpine mountains. Visibility was virtually zero in parts and, after spending 30 euros on an access ticket, we were a little disappointed to say the least. Oh well, you win some lose some. On to Slovenia and fabulous Lake Bled. Again the weather wasn't on our side so my photos were somewhat atmospheric, rather than bright and colourful. Finally we arrived in Rovinj in Croatia, a mini Saint Tropez without the glitz. Our homeward route took is to Novigrad in North Croatia which turned out to be a really good shout. Skimming the edge of northern Italy we found ourselves back in the Austrian mountains and marvelled at the Tyrolean scenery, specifically the Zugspitze. This time the weather was on our side, so my camera was on fire that day! Back into southern Germany and a first time visit to Heidelberg, a fabulous city with great architecture and cakes. A gentle cruise north east and we were boarding the shuttle back to UK. Absolutely love these bike tours. Long may they continue!
